Spring is Here!

Winter is over! 

Please note I don't mean the feel of winter is over as it may snow and get cold several more times before Old Man Winter takes his leave.  However, the season of winter is over.

Birds have been chirping for a month; Sandhill Cranes were seen flying across the city.  I haven't seen any green peeking through thawing topsoil, but it's getting close, especially in areas where the sun heats things fast.

The sun is a big player in all this.  Each day is a few seconds longer and when the rays hit the warmth is instant.

Put on your smile, spring is here (or will be very soon).

SPRINGING TO LIFE

Brown.  Broken.  Dead.

Leaves and sticks cover the land

Partially frozen but holding strong.

Meanwhile, a small slip of green

Wriggles free, 

Pushes

Strains.

Tendrils seek their destiny

Microscopically. 

Almost there.  

Then....

It's Spring!
