My Week that Was - February 5

The week got off to a great start as Saturday was my third straight day off.  I entered 2022 with virtually all the time I earned during 2021 to use by year's end.  Since 2021 was the second year working in a world of Covid-19, I knew a game plan was necessary to use all of it.

I'm not planning on long stretches off work, so there will need to be several long weekends to use the time off between now and the end of December.

Sunday I continued re-reading the twice edited chapters in the Story Worth book written in 2021.  As I write this I have more than 100 pages left to proof.  I hope to wrap it up the next week.

Tuesday, registration opened for the Ride Across Wisconsin sponsored by the Wisconsin Bike Federation.  This year the route rides from La Crosse to Milwaukee for the first time.

The ride began as a one-day event but became more accessible when it added another day.  In 2022 riders can ride from La Crosse to Milwaukee (235 miles) or Waterloo (165 miles) or take two days with an overnight in Wisconsin Dells before finishing in either Milwaukee or Waterloo.  Waterloo is the home of Trek Bicycles.  The finish line in Milwaukee is the Harley-Davidson Museum.

I was excited to see that quite a bit of the trip will be on state trails including the entire length of the Elroy - Sparta and 400 State Trails.  The end of the ride will use quite a bit of the Glacial Drumlin and Henry Aaron trail.  I can't wait!

The winter Olympic games are underway.  It seemed backwards with competition starting two or three days before the opening ceremonies.  Based on coverage so far, it seems the only other games that comes close in terms of the political climate and international unrest were the 1936 games.

Hopefully the only news during this Olympics will be made by the athletes.

The cold snap continues.  There was a short break when it was 30 Tuesday morning at 6, but it was half that 24 hours later.  Most of the week highs were around 15.  The same trend is expected next week, but since both Gordy the Groundhog in Milwaukee and Jimmy in Sun Prairie agree an early spring is coming, it can't last long.... or can it?

Have a good week, my friend!
