My Week that Was - February 19

The Statue of Liberty appears in Madison.

The week started cold again.  We've been in a long stretch of colder than normal temperatures in southern Wisconsin, but with the Statue of Liberty making an appearance I had to see it.

It was a featured attraction of the Wisconsin Union's Winter Carnival I really wanted to see.  Hopefully you read about in Tuesday's blog.

After a few minutes on Lake Mendota it was time to return home to finish gathering records for our tax-preparer.

The Wisconsin Badgers played a clunker of a game Saturday against the visiting team from Rutgers.  It was one of the most disappointing games of their season, although they have exceeded expectations and the season is far from over.  Tuesday's game at Indiana indicated the loss may have been caused by a cold night shooting, to demonstrate that, they need to stack another win when they host Michigan tomorrow.

Sunday was dedicated to the big game.  I was pulling for the underdog Cincinnati Bengals.  They missed it by this much!  Tip of the hat to the Rams and the two starting Badgers in their offensive line on a narrow win at home.

Tuesday my day changed with a phone call that re-arranged my morning.  A colleague was unable to get to work so the professional photo shoots we had scheduled needed someone to get the photographer from place to place.  It wasn't originally on the calendar, but it was fun and means our publication can stay on schedule.

My Book - not in a store near you.
2/16/2022 (dwm)

My book arrived Wednesday afternoon, delivered in a box left on the front porch.  I will say it looks nice.  Skimming over a few of the chapters the pages are clean and the photos look crisp (they are small though, have a magnifying glass handy).

Just in case you're wondering how it ends, no spoilers here.  You have to wait for the movie.

It's going to be under wraps for a while, so don't get scammed by websites claiming to have limited edition, author signed copies.  They will only be available via the official website which will debut after it's own 5 second Super Bowl ad during the LVII game next year.

Last Thursday the switch to 10 digit dialing shut down the phone system at work.  This Thursday the phones worked fine, but our online database was inaccessible for a couple hours which is a problem when that is the only place with the list of people and their numbers on my call sheet.

You can expect a variety of weather conditions in February but this week may have had one of the biggest swings.  The temperature at 6 am was 3 above Sunday; 10 Monday; 16 Tuesday then 43 Wednesday before dropping back to16 Thursday and 5 Friday at 6.  We were 30 or above for 18 hours, otherwise most of the week was 20 or colder.

Spring is coming - hang on!
