My Week that Was - January 22

Breakfast at Yola's on Commerce Dr, Madison

We started our week with breakfast at Yola's on the west side of Madison.  It's a locally owned coffee shop known for it waffles.

It was warm start to a cold day.  After fueling up, we stopped at Menards and Woodman's to pick up a few things then headed back to the warmth of hearth and home.

Before we even headed out for breakfast I enjoyed listening to a number of Weird Al Yankovic songs.  He's known for his music parodies, but it was an original piece of his that captured my attention, "Albuquerque".

It's epic, more than 10 minutes long, a far-out tale of insanity and mayhem.  If you aren't familiar with his work, as a long-time fan I'd say this represents his talent quite well.  Check out the fan drawn movie which brings it to life:

Since the Packers didn't play last weekend, it was nice to watch the six NFL Wild Card games unfold over three days.  The competition is usually football at its best.  With my team one of the favorites, I liked 'scouting' the opposition.

At church Sunday morning, we were stunned to hear the Pastor tell the congregation on his way home from the building the night before he was hit head-on by a drunk driver.  His vehicle was totaled.  He walked away with cuts and contusions.  Shocking news, and we are very grateful for God's protection.

Weather to start the week was nice, then Wednesday turned down the thermostat resulting in high temperatures dropping into the teens.  I found some work-around work-outs when its too dang cold to run outside, I hope there aren't too many days the adjustment is needed.

The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team is doing well, reaching the top ten in the weekly ratings.  It's more than a month from the NCAA tournament, but it's nice to see them doing well.  The team was projected to finish 10th in the 14 team B1G conference... right now they are near the top.  Go Badgers!

This past week and next will be the last of 2021 in our office.  We have letters and statements to print, collate, stuff, and deliver before January comes to a close.  Next we turn our attention to the February donor newsletter.

Meanwhile, we're in the freeze zone for much of next week so keep those hats and gloves ready!
