Winter's Here!

It's Winter!  At 9:59 Central Standard Time we reached the winter solstice, moving from autumn into winter.

When you know it's the day with the least daylight all year, how we react says a lot about us.

Do we hang our head and mope in the darkness or applaud the extra daylight coming our way starting tomorrow?

The extra seconds, then minutes of sunlight creep up on you as the days move past.  A month from now we'll be seeing an extra half-hour, although since it will be mid-January, we might not appreciate it.

The darkness seems appropriate with Covid-19 continuing to hang around.  The unvaccinated continue to reap the worst of it.  Some, amazingly, still refuse the vaccine if they survive the infection.  Some continue to deny it exists.  (Maybe it's not the sun rising in the east, but a large klieg light on a giant boom.)

Welcome to Winter
Cold. Dark.
Bundled up.
The season defines us.
Are we pliable? Flexible? Able to adjust?
Snow and wind are tough teachers.
Learn your lesson and it's fun.
Ignore their message at your peril.

The Solstice
The north pole is playing hard to get
The sun is now pursuing, instead of evading.
The light at the tunnel's end.... is spring.
