Christmas Lights

 Magic of Lights is a holiday light show on display at 20 locations across the country, including one where our son lives in Indiana.

 The shows are based in areas with large parking lots that allow them to create a winding path for carloads of passengers to follow while admiring the designs created by millions of blinking LED lights.

 Our trip through the lights was at the Ruoff Music Center on an evening with a constant drizzle.  It wasn't heavy but was wet enough to make it tough to capture a lot of good shots with my phone.

A layer of snow always enhances holiday lights, but they are interesting on their own as well.

After showing our tickets at the gate we tuned in the signal from the low-power radio station.  The multi-color, ever-changing Christmas tree is the first focal point.

There are others, including a nativity scene with Wise Men approaching on camels from the other side of the road.

The most spectacular parts of the show were the three places where lights strung over a series of supports created walls and roof that flashed, glowed, and  moved while we inched through a tunnel of light.

After the light show, we searched for the do-it-yourself displays.  

There was a very cool synchronized light show at the White River Christian Church in Noblesville set to contemporary Christian Christmas songs.  Then we went to a local dentist office who had their own display for clients and passers-by who doubled back to get a front row seat (in their car).

The displays come with their own low-power radio station so you can see the beat of the music play out in front of you.

Less than a decade ago, before LED lights were widely available, putting together a show like this required a lot of technology.  It's still impressive, but much more affordable.
