Buy Local

The day after Black Friday is Small Business Saturday.

I like the idea, but it falls short.  Small and locally owned businesses need more than a day.

We don't owe them our patronage; but it's a good idea to give them an opportunity to earn it.

My favorite stores treat customers as friends.  It's not about a quick sale, it's about earning trust.

Instead of worrying about a discount, look for the dividend your community earns when you shop locally owned stores.

The owners invest in their store and employees who, in turn, sink their roots in town.  The money spent stays local as the owner invests in infrastructure as a tax-paying member of the community and puts people to work.

Buy a tree, eat at a local mom and pop restaurant, or transfer your prescription to the local pharmacist - it's up to all of us to spend our time and money where we live.
