My Week that Was - November 6

Harvest season - 11/2/21 dwm photo
Before we get into recapping my week, a quick reminder to set your clock back one hour before going to bed tonight, otherwise you'll be an hour early for whatever you're doing Sunday.

It's a perfect time to reclaim some of that lost sleep caused by Covid, social media, ball games, or whatever reason.  Embrace your pillow, get some Z-Z-Z-Z-z-z-z-s.

The week began visiting with family - a meal out, some cards and games, and long conversations.

Sunday was Reformation Day and Halloween.  After church, where we sang "A Mighty Fortress is our God," we said good-bye with plans to get together in a few weeks.

There was no trick-or-treating around our place in 2020, due to the pandemic.  In 2019, we left our light off because we weren't home for the night.

We put out treats on a first-
come, first-serve basis.

Verona's hours for the annual candy chase was from 5 to 8.  We put a bucket on the front step leaving the light on for our Halloween experiment.

When I checked an hour later, some candy was missing, but whomever visited was kind in thinking about other kids coming behind them.  It seems that is what all our ghouls and goblins did because when the night was over, we still had a dozen candies left.

Aaron Rodgers testing positive for Covid-19 is disappointing.  I guess he thought a homeopathic solution was better than a vaccine developed by actual science.  I don't know if he believed he was immune because of that treatment, but the bottom line is he is off the active roster for at least 10 days.

When Covid-19 first descended on our country many pleaded with scientists and drug companies to work together in search of an answer.  They did, taking research into new methods of making a vaccine that allows a delivery system to be genetically modified to combat the harmful virus.

Once it was developed and introduced, some of the same people who were crying for an answer decided the vaccine was developed too quickly and must be suspect.  Perhaps Mr. Rodgers believes that too, I don't know.

I don't understand how the arguments of the "anti-vaxxers" is seen to have more credibility than leading scientists from around the world... but that's the world we live in.  Unfortunately, some of those believe anything said by a leader who has been proven a liar many times over.

Up is down.  Down is up.

Despite the contract dispute between Rodgers and Packer management, he's played great this season and is obviously fully committed to his teammates and coaches.

One of the reasons I lined up for the coronavirus vaccine and will get a booster is because I don't want to put Oakwood residents or co-workers at risk because I didn't get my shot.

It surprises me that Rodgers didn't do the same for his teammates.  I hope he stays symptom-free and tests negative in time to get back on the field next week.  Maybe after the game he'd consider getting vaccinated?

My goal at the start of the week was to finish two drafts of letters that we need to mail before Thanksgiving; there is still some tweaking to do, but the drafts are done.

Wisconsin scored a big win over #9 Iowa last Saturday to put themselves in position to win the West Division of the B1G conference, but to reach the championship game they need to win the rest of their regular season games, starting today at the state university of New Jersey known as Rutgers.  Go Badgers!

That's my week... I hope your next seven days are wonderful... starting with an extra hour of sleep.
