Wisconsin Waterfalls - Little Manitou Falls

After admiring the length of Big Manitou Falls drop over a cliff, we headed upstream to see its little brother.

Little in the name lowered my expectations on what I'd find across from where we parked to see Little Manitou Falls.

It is small compared to the larges waterfall in the state, but the Little Manitou Falls are impressive.

The falls are easier to see and easier to access. After getting the photo at right, I climbed down the hill to scramble across large boulders that might be submerged in high-water conditions, but provided multiple angles to enjoy twin-falls.

The river takes a 90-degree angle after the drop over the falls, so it isn't far from shore to shore.

The cascade doesn't thunder, but provides a constant drum beat to the sounds of the surrounding forest.  It follows you from rock to rock searching for the perfect shot.

The morning sun was hidden by the trees which allowed me to play with the shutter speed on the camera.  By leaving the shutter open just a tick longer, the water appears to flow.

The Upper Manitou Falls may be "little" but for most photographers the opportunity for shots is much larger.
