My Week that Was - October 30

The week started at 32 degrees, the morning low.  The heat is officially on at our house after giving the HVAC the last 4 to 6 weeks off between when we either sought relief from heat or cold.  Perhaps we'll be able to shut off the heat a few more days, but it's more likely to be on from now until May.

Leaves are still coming into peak peeping conditions, but it only takes one big rainy and windy day to strip most of the color off trees.  I'm hoping to get out with my camera a few more times before the leaves vanish.

The Wisconsin Badgers clawed their way back to a winning record and an opportunity for a decent season with a road win last Saturday in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Purdue knocked off Iowa a week earlier.

Win the rest of their games, and the Badgers will be champs of the B1G's West Division.  Next up, Iowa comes to Camp Randall later this morning.

Green Bay handled the Washington Football Team (if you're wondering about the name, they finally removed their previous offensive nickname and are playing without one, a new one is to be announced after the season), 24 - 10.

Washington rushes the passer well, but struggles guarding receivers downfield, so the Packers kept the ball in the air most of the game.  The game didn't flow like the one against Chicago, but a win is a win.

The Packers have a very short week, they played game 8 Thursday night in Phoenix.

It's a busy time of year on the fundraising calendar - making and keeping appointments, writing appeals, checking off boxes -  by the end of the next week I need most of it done.

The Packers played a great game, all things considered.  It was exciting as the outcome wasn't decided until there were only seconds left.  I was on my feet when the game ended.

Injuries and Covid meant Green Bay was short-handed compared to the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.  The experts almost universally gave the Packers no chance; but the coach put together a good game plan; the defense played its best overall game; and the running attack controlled the clock.

Green Bay left Phoenix with a win, 24 -21, improving to 7 - 1 on the season.  They only had three days to prepare for this game, now they get 10-days before another tough one in Kansas City.

A Packer win made for a good last day of the work week.  There was a lot of admin type stuff to do, but I was able to get that wrapped up and get a good start on a draft of our year-end appeal.

It was a good week for running - only one missed day due to rain and while it was 32 last Saturday, yesterday was almost 50, warm enough to leave my hat and gloves home.

That's my week - I hope your is a good one with no tricks, all treats.
