Vintage Video - Wisconsin Grab Bag #2

The final collection of Wisconsin stories is available today by clicking below or heading to my YouTube channel.

The first story looked at the work of a young organization in 1991 who raised, trained, and then placed service dogs with people who needed companionship and help living independently.

I shot the video with the young man and his service dog at the Janesville Mall where he could go about his day and I'd be able to shoot video of the two of them in a variety of situations.  If you haven't seen a working mall in a while, this story will bring some memories.

The next story was done with Kandu Industries which at the time was raising tomatoes hydroponically and selling them throughout the area.  Kandu is a non-profit serving people with developmental and physical disabilities, which it continues to do, but I don't see tomato farming on their website now.

There is a story on potato chips because a bad crop the previous fall meant the big guys, like Frito-Lay, had to use corn for many of their snacks while little places, like the shop in Broadhead Wisconsin was using potatoes they ordered in advance.

The Casino Belle arriving in Dubuque was the next chip in the game between states that wanted to maximize gambling revenue and increase tourism.  As I walked around the floor of the riverboat getting video (at time when indoor smoking was still OK) the vibe I sensed was sadness.

From there we visit a size-challenged clown museum and hall of fame, meet a pioneering woman, check on the Class A Beloit Brewers, and visit an old mill at the crossroads of its future.  I hope you enjoy it.
