The Badger Tavern

Ever since we moved to Madison, the bar on the corner of Seminole Road and Warwick Way has intrigued us.

It's a perfect location as one of the exits from the Beltline highway stops at its intersection with Seminole with the tavern practically filling your car window.

The Badger Tavern is the name it took in 2015 when new owners bought it out of foreclosure (Wisconsin State Journal 12/3/2015).

It was Tony Franks for 86 years before that welcoming locals and travelers.

We knew about its reputation for making good hamburgers and a nice pub menu.  We picked a table on the patio, ordered a Spotted Cow, and waited for lunch.

The fries were excellent with a crisp outer layer with a soft, delicious interior.

The burgers are made with beef from Knoche's Butcher shop served on a lightly toasted Colonial bread bun.

Did I mention the burger is $4.99?  In my estimation it is easily the best $5.00 burger in the county.  I've paid a lot more for less.

While we sat outdoors, I ducked inside to find a nice small bar and maybe ten tables on the first floor of what was probably the Tony Frank home in the 1930s.

It's friendly.  The food is good and inexpensive.  It's worth a visit!
