My Week that Was - July 10

Early morning on Lake Monona.

On my ride Saturday I was treated to a view that never gets old.

As the sun rose over the calm lake there were a couple of boats with fishermen patiently casting and reeling for the catch of the day when I saw a racing shell skimming over Lake Monona.

A crew of four kept perfect time with their strokes the oars never digger deeper than necessary to propel the boat across their practice finish line.  Beautiful.

Monday was a regular workday and it turned out nicely with several productive visits and three rickshaw passengers who enjoyed their three-wheeled tour of campus.

We were on the road Tuesday for a few days out of state to spend time with family.

This flew right over us in Fishers, Indiana.

When we stepped outside after 8 in the evening we saw a balloon rising above the trees a few blocks away.

As it gained height it floated our direction punctuated with blasts of additional heat from the propane.

It was close enough we could see the people in the basket waving at us as they headed east.

Out west that evening, the Milwaukee Bucks played the first game of the NBA Finals in Phoenix against the Suns.  It didn't go well as not enough shots went through the hoop for the good guys.  The good news was that Giannis Antetokounmpo played a week after hyper-extending his right leg.  The Bucks likely need him to claim the title.

I noticed that at least in Indiana there are Amoco gas stations again.  They had largely disappeared from the scene as the company became British Petroleum, BP for short.  Apparently the company decided back in 2017 to start reintroducing the brand in select areas starting in Chicago.  I like seeing the torch and familiar red, white, and blue pumps and signage.

It was a busy week.  Busy enough I didn't take the time to write about some of it.  I'll include some highlights in next week's "My Week..."

Thanks for reading.  Have a wonderful week!
