My Week That Was - February 6

Surviving the pandemic for many people means binge-watching.  It's one of the things we've done to fill the hours while spending more time at home.

From Tiger King to Cheers to Queen's Gambit to Andy Griffith, we've made our way through dozens of episodes.  We started watching the Die Hard movies and this week we began watching the Marvel movies in their chronological order.

Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ironman, and Ironman 2 are the first four of the 23 Marvel movies.  We can follow the storyline in a general sense, but not knowing the backstory makes some pieces of the plot a little murky.

I got good news on the voice front.  On a recent audition I made the shortlist of candidates for a job.  That happened once before, but this time I received an encouraging email which was a nice boost.

Jimmy the Groundhog didn't see his shadow.  There are people who keep track of whether a rodent sees his shadow or not.  No shadow means an early spring and that's welcome news consider the weather on its way.

This winter has been mild with snow hitting the season average.  It's a good thing it's February because we're walking into the coldest stretch of the winter. The upside, however, is that every day gets us closer to spring.  The sun is getting stronger and the math is working for us as we close in on spring.

There was a little bit more snow Thursday, 3 - 4 inches around here, followed by a steep drop in temperature with a dangerous wind-chill.  I'm back inside for morning workouts until the low gets up to 10 degrees.  That might not happen until a week from Monday!

My work week was quiet with a lot of writing and phone calls.  The highpoint of the work week is expected today (Saturday, February 6) as assisted living residents and Oakwood staff get their Covid-19 vaccination.  It feels like a life preservers finally being thrown in the water where those treading water have been waiting.

Join me back in this space next week to hear about that experience.

I had hoped to be engrossed in the Super Bowl with a distinct green and gold flavor, but since we get to wait one more year for that to happen, I'll watch, but with a resting heartbeat.  My prediction, Chiefs 34, Buccaneers 21.

Have a great week!
