Does it Seem Quieter?

It's been one month and three days since the new President took office.  While it's too early to comment on the eventual results; I noticed something.  It's quieter.

The lack of noise is good thing.  After four years of larger than life rants, tweets, demands, and declarations - the fact those things are absent is refreshing.

News from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is more Presidential.  There are announcements about proposed legislation, Covid-19, and foreign policy.

It's what I expect from the Office of the President regardless of party.  The elected leader, the Cabinet Secretaries, and department leaders set a direction while the hundreds or thousands of federal employees carry out the work.

It's a big job with a lot of responsibility.  While to some extent it is the ultimate in reality television; it doesn't work when the players are playing to the audience instead of seeking the greater good.

A lot of leaders, Democrats and Republicans, fell short during their time in office; but respected the Office and understood their role was temporary.  When leaders keep their eyes on the horizon, block out the noise, don't worry who gets the credit, and seek to form a perfect union by keeping their nose to the grindstone it bodes well for the nation.

A popular motto for successful corporations and teams is "Do Your Job."  In other words, we all get to where we want to go if we each do our part.

I hope the mostly quiet working conditions of the first 33 days is a good omen for the future.
