Ironically it's a year we can't forget.
Somewhere amidst the cacophony of politics and worry over an invisible enemy named Covid-19; if we stop and think a few minutes I bet we can find in our memory of things we did or in moments we shared some positives that will last the rest of our lives.
As you count down to New Year - with the people in our household, wearing masks, and socially distant - my prayer for you is a happy and healthy 2021.
And no more coronavirus!
On that note, let's ring out the old with another poem from my father.
Year's End
The annual cycle never ending
Of the turning of the years
Brings a most unusual blending
Of our joys, our hopes, our fears.
We accept the old year's passing,
And we look for better days
Where happiness will be surpassing
Any written word or phrase.
"Hope springs eternal" goes a saying
Brought about in times of strife,
And that hope we are displaying
By thinking of a better life.
But as the future we are viewing,
It is with a slight regret
For the deeds we have been doing
And the joys not finished yet.
To the past there's no returning
For relentless time moves on
Not caring if we all are yearning
For the days forever gone.
As they pass the years are giving
Memories we're glad to own.
Each morning brings the joy of living,
And blessings unto are us are shown.
We know not what this new year's bringing
Or what trail we'll have to tread,
But at the end, we may be singing
That we followed where God has led.
