Just for a change, I thought I'd leave my pen to the side for the arrival of autumn and use a couple of verses Dad wrote to mark the changing of the seasons.
In 2020, so little has been "normal" I don't expect this season to be either. Summer had its hot days, to be sure, but in the waning days of summer in the last few weeks our area set new records for lowest high temperature.
Leaves will change, daylight will rise later and set sooner. If you live far enough north to experience the seasons, autumn is a special time as we cherish the last days of real warmth and appreciate the splash of colors before things turn gray then white.
You might sink into fall with a rake in your hands or a cold glass of apple cider, but I encourage you to find a way to experience your favorite parts of fall.
Days are Shorter
