My Week That Was - Sept 19

Smoke obscures the sun.

The week started with getting my flu shot.

I've been getting one each fall since working at Oakwood Village.  It is as close to painless as you can get considering someone is sticking a sharp needle in your arm, and it's a way to fend off the flu.

Reports indicate there is progress toward a vaccine to prevent COVID-19, but it needs testing to be sure it's effective.  When that happens, I expect a long line at the clinic.

Sunday was the first time in six days it was dry and warm enough to ride.  September and October usually offer many great days to ride, but it was the kickoff for the Packer season, so I wanted to get home in time for the game.

It was great to seeing the Green Bay Packers get a win in Minnesota.  The Packer offense was firing on all cylinders most of the game and the defense played well in spots.  It's always important to get the first win, then you review the tape and prepare for game 2.

The wildfires out west are making their presence felt.  On several mornings this week you could look right at the sun.

The smoke is mostly a special effect in Wisconsin; close to the fires, it can be life-threatening.

Milwaukee Brewers have one week to earn a postseason invite.  The team has been up and down all season, but a strong finish might get them in.

Just received word I'm on the roster of voice actors for an agency in Europe.  Opportunities for voice gigs came in immediately, so we'll see what happens.  I'm waiting to hear about two auditions.

It's been a quick week at work.  The better weather meant rickshaw rides were a go both Tuesday and Wednesday and there were plenty of residents eager to ride.  It's mid-September, so everyone knows bike-riding days are all too quickly coming to a close.

Lucky for us, our absentee ballots arrived in the mail.  I plan to get it done and drop it in the box personally as soon as possible.

You may not have noticed, but we're more than halfway through September!  Most leaves around here are still green, but more blowing in the wind and flecks of color are showing up.  Plus, you know it's fall when Kwik Trip starts selling pumpkin spice flavored coffee.

I bet somebody, somewhere is ready to introduce Mountain Dew Pumpkin Spice.

Have a great week, thanks for reading!
