D-7000

My "new to me" camera.  5/9/2020 dwm photo
I recently upgraded my camera to a Nikon D-7000.

It has more pixels (six million more) and more ways to take pictures.

I purchased it through the Camera Company here in Madison.  It's pre-owned, but been checked by the shop and given a high grade.

In the past I've taken some of their photography classes and purchased accessories including a new lens last year.

My last camera was a big step from the 'point and shoot' model before it.  It did well and produced better pictures. But I wanted more.

The biggest improvement for me is the higher pixel count.  On its own, more pixels doesn't mean better pictures, but it gives you a higher resolution if you want to zoom in on a portion of a photo and make it larger.

It's going to take a while to learn how to get the most out of it.  One of the features I'm excited about playing with is adjusting shutter speed and the size of the lens opening while shooting to capture different images.

The technique I've played with most since getting this camera body is adjusting the size of the aperture or F-stop.  A small F-stop, 11 or less, means a larger opening of the lens which creates a narrow depth of field (see photo at left).

This camera should take better pictures in a variety of situations - as I figure it out, I'll post some here.
