Star Wars - The Rise of Skywalker is the ninth and final episode of the iconic movie series.  Of course, it is highly likely we will continue to see some new Star Wars down the line.

I'm not sure how many movie franchises stretch 42 years from the first to the last, but if any, I bet it's a short list.

Christmas Eve morning, we went to the 8:30 am show to learn how Rey, Fin, Poe, and the remaining band of plucky resistance fighters made out.

We did our homework beforehand, watching episodes seven and eight.

Some early reviews I heard weren't that positive, but I thought this was a fitting finale for the epic.  Creator George Lucas referred to the work as a galactic western, and in that spirit, I give it an enthusiastic positive review.

Simply, Star Wars is good versus evil; David versus Goliath.

General Leia is a major figure, if not the central character in this film.  That alone is significant, since the actor who was/is Leia died in 2016.

Leia's brother Luke Skywalker is important to the story.  We even get reunited with Han Solo and Lando Calrissian.

If you haven't seen the first eight, or supplemental movies The Rogue and Solo, it's OK.  You might not catch some little pieces of the story, but it will make sense.

If you are like me and saw the first one (Episode IV) when it hit theaters in 1977; you will appreciate many of the tidbits on screen and incorporated in the dialogue.

The film has been a joyride - a space adventure in a galaxy far, far away - with a timeless story of the underdog holding ground in a fight with a bully.

If you haven't seen it yet - go, it's very good.... and may the force be with you.
