Hey, 19!

Day 365 - the last day of 2019 and final day of the decade... Goodbye '19!

I hope you had a good year.

My year was quite good, thank you.  First, I'm thankful for abundant blessings of good health, a great family; a job I enjoy and excellent colleagues with whom I work.

This is blog 264, and while we watch the ball drop tonight as the year counts down, it seemed like a good time to recount some personal highlights from Two Thousand Nineteen, A.D.

Near the star at AT&T
stadium.  1/31/19 (dwm)
Last January, we flew out of Madison the day the Polar Vortex was centered above south Wisconsin and upper Midwest.  It was -26 when we boarded our plane.  When we landed in Dallas, it was 70 degrees warmer.

We made the trip to attend the annual ALDE conference, and while there I took a trip to "Jerryworld."  It an pretty amazing place, or palace of football.

The conference was at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, it is quite the hotel with a Texas-sized atrium with room to walk along a river, take a swim, or eat in one of five restaurants.

Phil and I rode together on
Day 2 of RAW. 8/19/19 (dwm)
In August, we headed to LaCrosse, Wisconsin for the start of the 5th annual Ride Across Wisconsin (RAW).  It was my second time on the Wisconsin Bike Federation ride.

Two days - 135 miles from LaCrosse to Plover, then 98 from Plover to the finish line in Green Bay.

I enjoyed the two days and felt great.  In 2020, I hope to do a couple more long rides.

Mission Point Lighthouse, at the end
of Michigan Hwy 37.  (9/18/19 dwm)
The biggest thing this year was a stint as light keepers at the Mission Point Lighthouse.

It was fun, interesting, and more work than we expected - but that's OK for a one-of-a-kind experience.  Since then, we've been sharing our adventures in light housekeeping, with several presentations scheduled around Dane County next year.

Hogback Covered bridge, Winterset
Iowa.  11/2/2019 (dwm)
After our week in the light house, we took pictures of other lights along Lake Huron.  We also visited three covered bridges in Michigan.

The first week of November, we drove to Iowa to shoot their 11 bridges including all 6 in Madison County.

The covered bridge blog posts run through the end of January.  The lighthouse posts continues every Sunday into April.

A new, revised "On the Air"

While on the road in September, I re-posted the blog series called, "On the Air."

The 35 chapter blog serial first appeared in 2015, so there was some updating and editing before running them between September 13 and October 2.  You can find them together at the tab, On the Air, at the top of the home page.

It was fun going back to Roseville and the gang at WRSE.  Nothing is in the works yet, but I'm hoping to update their story in the coming year.

Goodbye 2019 - Happy New Year to you!
