Hello, Winter

In Madison we had 15 inches of snow fall before the calendar turned to December.  None of it stuck around.

I am dreaming of a white Christmas.

one flake at a time

they fall by the million

slowly

then suddenly

the land is covered in a blanket of snow.

Second by second

Imperceptibly

Until winter gives way

to spring until days

get short

again.

At precisely 10:19, Saturday, December 21, 2019 - the winter solstice occurred.  The shortest day of the year means tomorrow brings more daylight, even if it's a couple more seconds.

The land rests.
