3rd Quarter Report - GB Packers

Green Bay is heading down home stretch - four games remain - two at home, then two on the road to end the season.

The Packers finished the first 12 with a 9 - 3 record; excellent if you asked any fan before the season.  But the way they lost two of the last four was deflating.

They lost to the Chargers, recently of Los Angeles, bounced back with a win and then got stomped playing San Francisco.  Both losses showed something was missing.

In the most recent game, the Pack bounced back with a needed 31-13 win over the Giants.

The Packers are in a close battle with Minnesota for the North Division title, and it is the Vikings who represent the toughest game on the schedule.  That doesn't mean the other three will be easy, just that Green Bay will be favored over Washington, Chicago, and Detroit.

More than that, is how they play.  Green Bay hasn't put together a full game hitting on all cylinders.  Defensively they aren't giving up a lot of points, but are surrendering a lot of yards.  The team is pretty healthy, especially compared to recent Packer teams.  I believe they can, but it is time to demonstrate.

Just where the season goes is tough to predict.  At times, it feels Green Bay could get on a roll and win it all.  On the other hand, there are moments when it is tough to tell if the Pack is the better team.

I expect them to beat Washington and the Bears in Lambeau Field.  The Viking game will be hard.  Green Bay hasn't won in the bank building yet; it's time they figure it out, but a loss wouldn't surprise me.

Looking back at my prediction September 5, I had the Packers 9 - 3 after 12 games and forecast a 12 - 4 season.  I hope I'm wrong and they finish 13 - 3, but either way this has been a good season under first year coach Matt LaFleur.

You can look for me decked in green and gold as the final chapters unfold.

GO PACK, GO!
