My Week That Was - Nov 9

On that trip to Iowa last weekend, we ran into a convenience store with the same name as our favorite and our favorite convenience store with a different name.

What?

Kwik Trip dominates the Wisconsin market from its LaCrosse headquarters with stores in Minnesota and Iowa.

However in Iowa it's known as Kwik Star.  Iowa is covered with several convenience stores, but a chain headquartered in Oklahoma with 800 stores in 11 states dominates there.

Quik Trip is OK, but it isn't Kwik Trip.  I find it a bit amusing that neither store knows how to spell quick.

Tuesday into Wednesday brought more snow, but not enough to stick.  A number of locals are acting as if its been a long winter already.  Well, not quite, but it is early for all the white stuff.

Wednesday was the first of two days for Oakwood's Health & Benefits Fair on the Prairie Ridge and University Woods campuses.  My role is to share with employees what gifts do for Oakwood and offer the opportunity for them to take part.  It went very well at Prairie Ridge as the number of payroll deduction donors increased 68%!  That's exciting.

Thursday went well at the H & B Fair at University Woods as we had a 12% increase in employee donors.

I enjoy getting to visit with so many colleagues and offer the opportunity to be difference makers - but am always surprised how such a fairly easy activity is so draining.  While it's not hard work, I'm tired at the end of the day.

Friday was time to wrap up the week - there were records to update; a team meeting; and a little time to get some visits set for next week.  Before next week, I need sleep.

Have a great week!
