I thought at the time the Brew Crew still had a chance and the biggest thing they needed was a winning streak.
They did better than that.
The Brewers won 21 of the last 27 games.
They finished a game out of first in the Central Division and play the Nationals today in the National League Wild Card game.
September was their best month of the year, and reigning Most Valuable Player Christian Yelich missed almost all of it after breaking his knee cap when fouling a pitch off his knee in a game September 11.
Milwaukee's pitching, starters and relievers, performed at their best. Manager Craig Counsell deftly handled the expanded roster for the last month of the season, and the offense went on a roll.
In the Brewer's 50 years - this is the second time they qualified for the post-season in consecutive seasons.
It was a tough season. Until the final month, they never got on a roll. I'd be more excited about their chances if Yelich was able to play. Fellow outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Ryan Braun are battling injuries, but will play.
It won't be easy, but it is the hard that makes it great. They need to win tonight's game first - then take three of five in the Division Series to reach the Championship Series where Milwaukee finished last season one win shy of the World Series.
Let's Go, Brew-ers! #tapthekeg
