Opening Weekend at Miller Park - grateful for the roof! 3/30/2019 (dwm) |
The idea of sitting outside for a baseball game in an outdoor stadium on a day like that wasn't very appealing.
Thankfully, Miller Park was made for days like this.
Tailgaters looked they belonged at a late season football game while others dashed from the far parking lots in sweatshirts because it promised to be warmer under the roof.
Before the game Matt takes a picture from our seats - 20 rows behind home plate! Thanks Matt 3/30/2019 dwm photo |
We hung out in the car for a while before getting in line for Friday's Front Row Grill. There we sat at a table on the left field wall to watch batting practice.
It was our first time in the lower bowl. My son scored seats on StubHub for a good price and invited me along.
Our seats were excellent. Behind home plate and steps from four concession stands, a short distance from the team's pro shop - they were easily the best seats we've had.
It wasn't perfect comfort as a cool breeze blew through our section. Still, we weren't sitting outside.
Best of all - our Brewers beat the Cardinals 4 - 2!
It was a quick vote in Verona 4/2/2019 dwm photo |
It went fast. On Verona's ballot the race for a seat on the Supreme Court was the only contest as the rest were running unopposed.
The race for the highest court in Wisconsin has changed dramatically over the last few decades as partisan politics have become part of it. Instead of how they approach a case, ads attempt to paint one as a perfect fit while the other has issues decided in advance and unfit. It's a shame.
Wednesday I attended a funeral. A college roommate of the guest of honor told a story about about his prankster tendencies. It seems the roommate packed his own lunch every day. A favorite part of his lunch was a hard-boiled egg, except when the lunch staple was replaced with a fresh one.
That Supreme Court race? It was razor-close. I think there will be a recount.
Learning about Butterfly gardens. 4/4/2019 dwm photo |
Thursday evening we attended a program at the Verona Library on how to create a Butterfly garden.
We live in a small place with little space to garden. But we did learn how to attract them by creating a cluster of nectar plants.
It was quite interesting and I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Maybe we can attract the flying patches of color to our deck. I hope so.
I hope you are seeing plenty of color in your world. Thanks for reading.
