A Cinnamon Roll at Bloom Bakery

I was in Bloom Bakery once before - a small shop in Middleton.  It was the end of the day and there were only a few fresh pastries available.

Several years later, my wife suggested we grab breakfast at Bloom's Bakery and Cafe on Madison's Monroe Street.  It was quiet good.

Monroe Street is one of the city's happening places - with more than a dozen bars and eateries, mom and pop shops, a private high school/college, and single family homes along a two mile stretch next to the Vilas Zoo and University Arboretum.

The bakery is a perfect fit for Madison.  The shop uses organic ingredients and bakes in small batches.  It has one case of vegan and gluten-free pastry.  In the other case were treats that caught my eye.

Joining those items was a shop created pop-tart and a cafe menu offering waffles, french toast, and egg creations.  There were lunch items on the menu too.

I was intrigued by their cinnamon rolls.  It is the size of a normal cupcake topped with a dollop of frosting.  Wow!  The flavor was exquisite with the right balance of flavor between spice and sweet.

The morning had a spring-like chill so I ordered the House-made Cocoa complete with a little cream drawn into a heart.  It was as good as the roll.

A heart-warming breakfast.

On the way out I noticed a small sign.  It offered the use of a bike pump to customers who might need to add air to the tires while on a cold morning ride.  It's the kind of thing that makes it welcoming to riders like me.

The shop has a comfortable feel.  My visit was during a weekday morning just before 9, so it was quiet.  There was a person writing on a laptop.  A gentleman reading the paper and others engaged in a conversation over coffee.

This second visit more than made up for my first - I look forward to more visits whether its on two or four wheels.
