We walked in thinking it was a Ma and Pa restaurant. The waitress told us there are some restaurants like it in the area.
It turns out there are 52 Cotton Patch restaurants across Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. All but four are in the Lone Star state. There are two in Grapevine, we ate at the downtown location.
As we sat down, a sign promoting skillet fried cornbread caught my eye. In addition to corn, it featured jalapeno peppers. I wasn't so sure about it, but gave it a shot and really liked it.
Their fried pickles are the best ever with the right amount of breading and fried to perfection. I couldn't stop eating them.
| Skillet Cornbread - that shows half left covered in Honey butter. It's comfort food, all right. 2/3/19 (dwm) |
The Chicken Fried Chicken was tempting, but since a dessert place down the street caught my eye, I opted for the smaller Chicken Fried Chicken sandwich. It comes with bacon mayo.
Did I mention the Cotton Patch specializes in southern comfort food?
You may not be comfortable after a full meal, but you will be comforted.
It's a regional chain, but delivers on genuine home - made goodness.
