Did you catch the Super - Blood - Wolf moon Sunday night?

After the AFC Championship game it was close to 9:30 when I remembered the lunar eclipse.

Thanks to the recent snow - it was remarkably bright outside thanks to the sun reflecting off the moon and on to winter's blanket.

From the window in my "office," I could see the moon and the start of the lunar eclipse.

The moon was ready for its close-up, a mere 222,043 miles - closer than its usual distance of 238,855 miles.
 Half an eclipse.  10:18 p.m. 1/2/0/2019 (dwm)

The Super moon gets its name at perigee, its closest point to earth.  At apogee in February it will be 252,622 miles away.

The Blood is for the moon's dusky color as the earth block the rays of the sun which only shows red on the color spectrum.

The Wolf moon is the first full moon of the year when wolves howl at it for the first time.

In just a half-hour, the moon climbed out of view.

I was unable to hang in for the entire show, but thankful for a sooper-dooper/redish/dog moon.
