Madison is home to an unusual bank of dreams.  It's sponsored by American Family Insurance and the mission statement is a good one.  "American Family believes that a dream is the most valuable thing you can ever own.  That's why we created DreamBank, a community space dedicated to the pursuit of dreams.  Whether you need resources, inspiration, or just space to figure out the details, DreamBank is the place to get started."

Just last week I had a meeting at the DreamBank, and see what its about.

Inside the entrance is a kiosk filled with a collection of vintage skeleton keys attached to small paper clouds.  It is the starting point for visitors to write their dream on the cloud.

Later, you can deposit the key in a box, a physical reminder you are embarking on your dream.

You might think, like I did, that a bank of dreams is for children.

That is certainly one audience for this interesting facility, but its for anybody with a dream.

There are resources for entrepreneurs and space for groups or individuals to work.  There are workshops and events designed to bring a dream to life.

The concept of a DreamBank is a good one - an idea with merit beyond a company slogan or marketing idea.

In a cynical world that frequently tries to shoot down hopes and dreams of those who don't get the benefit of the doubt; it is worth investing time, thought, and conversation.

Dreams arise from thin air or the deepest recesses of our heart... the really good ones nestle into our brain and prod us to take action.

Sometimes the dream isn't the answer.  It might be the first step,  A beginning of experiments and failures on the way to a refined, workable idea.

The dream is a start.  It needs nourishment with the dreamer's blood, sweat, and tears.  When it takes shape, American Family Insurance is ready to protect it.

The DreamBank is worth a visit - its open six days a week.
