Winter-time is Here

Winter in Verona 1/27/2018  dwm photo
8 hours, 59 minutes, 45 seconds of daylight - that's it for Madison residents today.

Three seconds less than yesterday, two seconds less than tomorrow.  December 19th through the 23rd are the only days with less than nine hours of sun.

Winter's welcome is incomplete.  There has been plenty of cold since November, but around these parts we are behind on snow.  Most of us will gladly trade a few degrees for accumulation.  Oddly enough, after weeks of below average temps lately its been warmer than normal.  Either way, winter is here.

Bleak

Days are short.  Really short.
It is dark driving to work.
Dark when driving home.
Where is the day?

Winter
Snow is missing.
No seasonal blanket covers the earth
No bright white brightens the night.
It's winter.
                                                            Bring on the SNOW!

The solstice doesn't work equally.  While the amount of daylight increases; the change is only at the end of the day.

Sunrise won't equal December 21st 7:25 again until January 16!  No wonder everybody's tired.
