My Week That Was - Dec 22

Graze is a great lunch place on Capitol Square.

More office Christmas stuff happened to start the week, but that happened after a shopping trip to Milwaukee last weekend where we had lunch at Baker's Square.

Just a note about Baker's Square... nearly 40 years ago there was a restaurant chain known as Poppin' Fresh Pies that was one of our favorites.

It became Baker's Square.  The only one we've seen in ten years is in Brookfield, Wisconsin just west of Milwaukee.

Lunch was excellent, made even better with the buy an entree, get one free coupon we possessed.

You check off a bunch of presents to boot and it was an excellent shopping adventure.

Monday our office team went out for a holiday lunch at Graze.  The dining area is bright with floor to ceiling windows facing the state capitol.  I had the Fried Chicken sandwich.  It was perfect.

Every morning I go to the gym around 5:20.  While driving over last Sunday, I noticed a bright star in the southeast sky.  It was different than the others and it was back on Monday and Tuesday.

Later that day I mentioned about the bright light and learned it was Comet Wirtanen, the Christmas Comet.  How cool is that?

It was closest to earth on Sunday, a mere 7 million miles.  It orbits the sun every 5 and a half years, but not isn't usually as obvious as this year.  The Christmas Comet brought to mind 1986 when Haley's Comet did its last fly-by earth.

My wife and I got up early (around 2 a.m.) and drove to the country so we could watch it pass in the dark night sky.  When the time came we saw something, although it looked fuzzy, as far as we were concerned it was Haley's Comet.  Haley only comes around every 75 years. I'll be 97 the next time Haley passes - I hope you are still following this blog!

Jobs in the office change as we approach year-end.  This week I made lots of donor calls - thanking them for their generous support and in a few cases letting them know when they were close to the next donor recognition level.

It's been a good week, but with several days off coming up it leaves only two work days in 2018.

I hope you have a most excellent week and wish you a Merry Christmas!
