Brewers v L.A. Dodgers Miller Park

This is the third time the Milwaukee Brewers have played in the Championship Series.  The first time, 1982 was in the American League, 2011 in the National, and in the National League again this year.

The Brewers only trip to the World Series was in 1982 where they lost in 7 games to the St. Louis Cardinals - who are now division rivals.

I was a sophomore in college in 1982.  No TV in my room.  The Crawford Residence Hall had one downstairs, where I watched part of one game.

But since we are in "one game at a time mode," it is best not to speak of the series to come and focus on the Los Angeles Dodgers coming to Miller Park tonight.

We played them seven times already.  Three in Milwaukee and four in Dodger Stadium - L.A. won four games.  The Brew Crew needs to win one more out of seven games this time.

It is a tough road, no doubt.  The Dodgers have big hitters and powerful pitchers.  The Brewers are worthy of this place in the spotlight and I expect them to do well.  I expect they will win.

They remind me of the Minnesota Twins in 1987 and 1991 who hit on all cylinders and rode the waves of emotion from their home crowds.  Each time the Twins won the home games, which is all you need with home-field advantage.

Craig Counsell has the right managerial touch for this club.  He's kept them together on the field, in the dugout, and in the clubhouse.  They are playing for each other and for the fans, as corny as that sounds.

It's good to be hot at the end of the season and Milwaukee got hot when September started and stayed hot.

Buckle your seat belts - Let's Go, Brewers!
