Close, But no Cigar

Close watchers of the Milwaukee Brewer's party in the locker room after winning the National League Division Series against Colorado may have noticed at least one victory cigar, but alas that was it as the local heroes couldn't take one large bandwagon of fans to the World Series.

The Brewers lost Saturday night to the L.A. Dodgers, 5 - 1 losing the series 4 games to 3.

I was disappointed, but thrilled with the season overall and the promise for future seasons.

The Dodgers proved to be the better team.  They scored more runs and kept Brewer bats quiet.  I think when that happens you just tip your cap.

There is much to celebrate:  a spectacular September where they won 20 of 27 games and finished their 162nd regular season game tied with Chicago for the division lead.  They won the division in a deciding 163rd game over the Cubs.  They swept Colorado in the NLDS.  Add playoff wins to the regular season victory total and its a new Brewer's record, 102.

The Brewers finished further along than 2017 when they missed the post-season by one game.

The World Series starts tonight and for the 36th straight time Milwaukee isn't part of it.  But they are getting close.

As I look forward to next year, everyone in Brewer Nation knows there are just two more steps, and five more wins to go.

Thank you Brewers - it was a great year!
