The Brewers Big Push

The caption (obscured on right) reads:
This is more than a game. It's a love affair that
runs deep within the hearts of every individual
who calls this team their own. This is more
than a team
. It's a family of faithful followers,
drawn together from all walks of life, connected
by a common passion. This is more than a
pastime. It's a social institution, uniting
generations and transcending boundary lines.
This is more than a business. It's a community
asset, a public trust, a time-honored tradition
entrusted to our care. This is who we are.
This is what we do. This is our passion. Our
privilege. Our responsibility. We are the Milwaukee
Brewers Baseball Club.
Seven games remain. (This post published 7:30AM 9/23/2018.)

Out of 162, there is today's game against the Pirates; three in St. Louis against the Cards; and three at home wih the Detroit Tigers.

The Brew Crew trails Chicago by 2-1/2 games in the Central Division title chase.

The Brewers and Cardinals hold the National Wildcard spots.  Milwaukee leads St. Louis by 2 games, Colorado trails the Cards by 1-1/2 and is out of the play-offs right now.

It's been a good season.  It's been a season of promise.

Making the post-season elevates this to a great season; to make that happen, Milwaukee needs a strong finish.

Just call it the Big Brew Push.

I'm impressed by the pitching staff.  The bullpen, especially Josh Hader, Jeremy Jeffries, Corbin Burnes, Corey Knebel, and Cesar Cedeno have been dependable cashing sixth inning leads into wins.

The acquisition of Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain before the season and Curtis Granderson at the trade deadline boosted the offense.  Jesus' Aguilar is having a break-through season.

Jhoulys Chacin had a remarkable run as a pitcher despite little acclaim when Milwaukee signed him.  The rest of the starting staff has flown under the radar, but are keeping the team in position to win.

It's been fun.  I've seen or listened to a good portion of the 155 games played so far.

No doubt they are a dark-horse when it comes to winning the World Series.  But players like Yelich and Cain with a strong relief corps can certainly find a way to win 13 out of 22 games to win the trophy.

Do that and Milwaukee can hold a parade on Wisconsin Avenue.

Let's go Crew- it's time for the Big Brew Push.

Editor's note:  At the end of the day, Milwaukee left Pittsburgh on a winning note, but Chicago and St. Louis both won as well.  Six games left for the Brewers - trailing the Cubs by 2-1/2 and leading the Cards by two.  These next three in the Gateway City will be interesting.  Go Brewers!
