Packers Post-Op - Washington

Wis. State Fair  8/3/2018 (dwm)
As the old saying goes... after three games the Green Bay Packers overwhelmed one team, underwhelmed the second, and whelmed the third.

1 - 1 - 1 makes a nice picket fence, but not much of a won/loss record.

Fortunately, Minnesota looked even worse Sunday leaving the two division rivals and Super Bowl contenders (although we may need to revisit that prediction fro the Pack) in lockstep at the top of the NFC Central.

Washington started strong, scoring on a 46 yard pass and never looked back, building the lead to 14 - 0 before Green Bay managed a field goal early in the second quarter.

It got interesting early in the second half when the Packers took their first possession 75 yards to a touchdown over a 7:58 minute drive to pull within 11.  The defense forced a Washington punt in three plays, but when the Packers had a fourth down conversion over-turned by replay (correctly, I might add) that was pretty much the ballgame.

It was on that series Rodgers was sacked hard - picked up, thrown to the ground, and landed on by a Washington defender.  There was no penalty called.  The next series Clay Matthews was called for his third unnecessary roughness penalty on a quarterback hit.  I can see where it was a penalty, but if it was, then the Rodgers sack should have been too.

This road loss wasn't because of the officials.  Green Bay was penalized 10 times.  Receivers had three key drops (including one on fourth down), and one fumble.

Aaron Rodgers got hit hard a number of times and was favoring his injured leg in the second half.  Mohammad Wilkerson, a defensive lineman signed in the off-season was sent to the hospital during the game with an ankle injury, so he may be lost for the year.

The Packers return home on Sunday to play the Bills.  That should be good news, but those same Bills just ambushed those Minnesota Vikings in their own buildnig.

We better be ready to play and put a full game together.  Go Pack, Go!
