With the 17th edition of Biking to Bucky, only seven remain.  This edition visits three downtown versions of Bucky and one on campus.

Here we go,,, Bucky #19, 20, 32, and 40.

When You Say Wisconsin, You've Said it All - #19
Artist: Hiebing (integrated brand development & marketing co.)

Find this Bucky where
Wisconsin Ave meets
E. Mifflin St. (dwm)
If a picture is worth 1,000 words.

The dozens of small pictures on this bright red Bucky do, indeed, say it all.

There is a Super Bowl trophy on his shoulder.  Skis and snowshoes.  A "Duck" - an amphibious vehicle for land and water travel used in Wisconsin Dells.  Cherries.  A hamburger.  Musical instruments.  Dozens of snowflakes.

If you can associate something with America's Dairyland, there is probably a rendering of it on this eye-catching Badger.  I love the name.  If you remember the old Budweiser jingle with a similar lyric, you know how it goes.  It remains a staple of the Wisconsin Varsity Marching Band.

Bucky is nearly covered in medical
waste used to treat cancer.

Vial Caps for a Cure - #20
Artist Meghan Warren McKinney

This may not be the Bucky who started this whole parade, but he is leading it.

Bucky is made with vial caps and other small plastics used during patient care and surgery.  The red, white, brown, gold, and black did their job and are now talking about it through art.

According to the statue's webpage, the artist began collecting the caps a few years ago.  The caps covered rubber stoppers on medication and were thrown out.  McKinney saw another way to use them.
Each piece is from a vial of
medicine.  6/29/18 (dwm)

The photo doesn't fully convey the 3-D effect and way this work of art pops off Bucky,

The caps spell "Garding against Cancer."  It incorporates ribbons for all cancers, survivors, and brain cancer which afflicted Coach Gard's father.  His cancer fight inspired the effort to Gard against Cancer.

Its mission is spelled out in caps around the stand: "For Research and Care.  For a Cure.  For Wisconsin."

You can find it looking at the Capitol from its perch at 2 East Mifflin Street.

Fittingly, this Bucky stands in front of the
Under Armour Store - 610 State St. (dwm)
Grateful Red - #32 - Artist Under Armour Brand House

Most Division I University athletic programs have some kind of shoe and apparel package for their teams.  I think getting the Badger's shoe company to step up for the Bucky on Parade venture is a good use of the relationship.

Bucky's name recognizes the student section in the Kohl Center for Badger basketball games.

This is the modern ball playing Badger, an update of Baller Bucky you met July 23 standing outside the original fieldhouse, the Red Gym.

I like the elegant uniform this guy is wearing.  It might be too simple for today's players, but it is worth a try.

On the back is a simple motion W in the center of the collar and a single number, 1.  Go, Badgers!
SuperBuck is between University and
Johnson at 333 E. Campus Mall.

SuperBuck - #40 - Artist Rob Severson

Buckingham U. Badger, disguised as a mild-mannered student-mammal, leads a quiet life on the University of Wisconsin campus.  But when a crisis in morale or general cheer is necessary, he becomes SUPER BUCK!

No cape for this
superhero! 6/16/18 (dwm)
While most folks think of Bucky as a cuddly bundle of fur.  This version of Bucky wants to remind us of the real capabilities he and all Badgers, possess.

This might be the most unfamiliar version of Bucky, but I bet he inspires a comic book for the U.W. Hospital Children's Hospital where the "real" Bucky frequently brings cheer.

You can look at the other 61 Buckys aleady shown here.
