In today's world, which is less civil all the time and social media is anything but social... encouragement is in short supply.
We need a boost from time to time.
That person in front of you at the grocery store who seems to be taking forever... maybe they just got some bad news. Instead of criticism and a passive-aggressive attitude, offer a smile and friendly greeting.
That car that cut you off; try a nice wave with all five fingers instead of a snarl and nasty word.
For friends and family members having a bad day, give time and a listening ear. You can encourage and barely make a sound. It is the present of presence. Do it. Encourage.
