My Week that Was - April 21

Last Sunday, April 15 - this Goldfinch couldn't believe it

My week was busy and weird. Well, the weather this last week was real strange.

Maybe it seems more dramatic because we expect to see Daffodils and Tulips not one to two inches an hour of snow.

Just reviewing the winter, it seems clear we've had more days of accumulating snow in April than any other winter month this season. What!

Last weekend was spent mainly inside and off the roads because of the sleet, ice, and snow.

Wednesday brought the biggest snowstorm of the year!

This is the last day of Volunteer Appreciation Week.  On Tuesday, Oakwood honored volunteers with a reception.

It was a great evening.  Volunteers don't help for the recognition, but the truth is, they serve residents in ways the organization never could.

One thing surprised me this week... my Twitter account @dcheezehead has a couple of followers I never expected: Johnny Depp (or someone who has that account) and more recently the woman who is the original voice of Siri.

So, I have that going for me, which is nice.

The second winter storm burst upon us on Tuesday with warnings and forecast for heavy, wet snows with accumulations of 5 - 7" possible.

Madison got 7 inches.  It was the biggest snowfall of the entire season.

It warmed up Thursday and by last night it was almost gone.

Friday morning was my 100th blood donation.  The pain was as low as it could be and all went well.  Even better is knowing others who need blood get it.

If you can give blood this week, do it.  As they like to say at the American Red Cross the pain lasts an instant, the satisfaction a lifetime.

Then last night came another highlight - the Badger Varsity Band Show.  It was great, and you can read more about it in this space on Tuesday.  Have a wonderful week!
