My Week That Was Feb 3

It was quite a week around here.

Most of the country has the sniffles or worse as the flu sweeps across the nation.  53 children have died amid the 127,000 plus cases reported by the end of January.

Just as experts predicted the season was peaking, which implies a decline is near, it came home.

Seven days of aches and pains, trouble breathing, and general misery.  And those were the good days.

So far, it's skated around me.  I'm hoping the flu shot last fall helps.  The current strain wasn't targeted in the vaccine, but it's got to be better than not getting one.

The flu is no joke.  Take it seriously and pay attention to the symptoms.

We had a terrific event at work.  One of the things we strive to do is say thanks to donors in meaningful ways.  Because of wonderful colleagues there was a nice lunch for the donor with the workers who will put the items the gift bought into use.  The employees did a great job in sharing how they could serve more people and do a better job thanks to the gift.

The donor had a good time, saying repeatedly how glad they were to make the gift.

My week didn't depend on what groundhogs saw or didn't see when they woke up yesterday, but since one of the prognosticators is from the area it's hard to avoid.

Jimmy the Groundhog from Sun Prairie pronounced six more weeks of winter are left.

I think that's a good forecast, since so far we haven't had a week of snow around these parts. We are so far behind a 'normal' winter we need snow.

Last week was cold, it warmed to almost 40 on Wednesday, then a drop to below zero by the following day.  Maybe the Super Blue Blood Moon had something to do it.  I tried to get a picture, but the eclipse happened just after the moon dropped below the horizon. Today, we have a possibility of snow and a warm-up from below zero wind-chills.

Yet to be seen in the week to come - will the snow mount up, will I get sick, and will Jerry Kramer be elected to the Hall of Fame.

Have a great week, thanks for reading!
