Election Day

It's here.  We can vote.

Maybe you already voted.

Just for a moment I thought about early voting, but prefer to vote on election day with nearly everybody else.

I expect to wait in line a while at the polling place before getting a long sheet of paper and pointed toward a three sided booth where I'm asked to fill in the circle next to the name of my favorite candidate.

There's local races to decide and a congressional seat to fill.

Wisconsin's Senate seat will either belong to the incumbent or the man he defeated six years ago.

For the Presidential race, most polls are indicating neither of the major candidates are liked very much unless it's in comparison to their opponent.

Because of that, many voters may choose to write in their candidate for President.  Paul Ryan, Michael Pence, Colin Powell, even Mickey Mouse are likely to get votes today.  None are likely to get many votes, and even if they did, in most states unless they declared a write-in candidacy in advance the votes won't count.

There is a slight chance Evan McMullin could win in Utah.

If he does and no candidate earns 270 electoral votes - the U.S. Congress selects the winner from the candidates with an electoral vote to their credit.  Each state's delegation gets one vote.

If it turns out we get to there... we'll really have something to talk about!

If either Mr. Trump or Secretary Clinton prevail - I pray we don't become further divided and some wiser heads among us can find ways to work together so our Government - by the people and for the people doesn't perish from this earth.
