Big Win for Bucky

We shouldn't overreact to the first win of the season, but that was a significant win for the Badger;s football team yesterday.

The Tigers were a ten-point favorite according to the experts and other than guest picker Aaron Rodgers on ESPN's Game day broadcast their panel all expected Louisiana State University to walk out of Lambeau Field with a win.

My hope is you read the Fearless Forecast in yesterday's blog (published at 7:30am CDT) and noticed my selection.

Just like quite a few Badger fans (but not all, I knew many expecting a loss), my choice was more with my heart than my head, but upsets can happen when everyone is starting fresh.

The Badger defense seemed to pick up where they they left off last season, even though the coordinator from last season is now in the same job for LSU.  The new guy built on the foundation and other than a brief span when the Tigers moved the ball, responded to the challenge of taking on one of the best runners in college football.

Wisconsin's offense wasn't a well-oiled machine, but it was effective.  They kept the Tiger offense on their bench during most of the first half.  New starter, 5th year senior Bart Houston had a couple of ugly interceptions, but stayed confident and made a number of plays when needed.

The 16-14 win feels big because of the opponent and the national stage, how they build off it is up to them, starting with a couple of home games where they will be heavily favored.

Go Badgers!
