Packers Memo - Thrill of Victories... Agony of Defeat

One thing that's kind of amusing about the National Football League is the way so much of our attention and emotion is poured into each game.

The team wins and the emotion is over the top:
"We're going to win 'em all!"
"No one's better than Aaron and Clay!"
"Sure, we'll go 16-0!"

But with a loss, look out.  It's like someone stole our Pooky:
"That's the worst offense/defense I've ever seen."
"Man, we'll never win another game."
"Fire the coach/General Manager!"
"We need new players."
"Uh-oh, Minnesota is only a game back... this is horrible!"

The highs are quite high and the lows dip to Death Valley proportions.

So, after a 10 - 29 loss at Denver last night things appear bleak in Packerland.

Aaron Rodgers threw for the fewest yards for a game in his career.  The Broncos seemed to complete passes and run like there were no white jerseys in front of them.  Play calls didn't seem to work and it was like we were a couple steps too slow.

Maybe it was the altitude, right?  Sure.  That must be it.  No problem then, onto Carolina next Sunday.  The Panthers will likely be undefeated if they put down the struggling Colts tonight at home.

So there's no confusion here - Denver was the better team by a mile last night.  They won on defense, offense, special teams, on the sidelines, and in the coaches box.  To the victors go the spoils.

This team will re-group.  The Packers will dust themselves off and move forward.  Us fans will wallow in this for several more days - then change our Packer gameday clothes for something without the stench of losing in it for next week's game.

It'd be better if we get a little healthier or find a receiver who can present a down field threat, but it seems to me that Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy, and the rest of the Packer brain trust know more about getting the locomotive back on the tracks than I do.

6 - 1 is a good start... let's try not to make it 6 - 2, OK guys?

Go Pack, Go!
