Packers Memo - Shareholder Report

There haven't been a lot of games in the Aaron Rodgers era like yesterday's win over St. Louis.

Aaron had a couple of interceptions and a lost fumble.  Considering he hadn't thrown a pick in Lambeau since 2012 one was a shock - two were unthinkable.

Green Bay's defense said, "We got this," to their offensive teammates applying relentless pressure to the Rams quarterback all day long.

The Pack intercepted Nick Foles four times.  They controlled rookie running back Todd Gurley early in the game and made sure there was no come from behind upset.

The offense marched down the field on its first possession to take an early lead and scored again in the third quarter with a 65 yard touchdown pass and run by James Jones who stretched to the goal line.

Packer rookie Quinten Rollins scored on a pick six to put the Pack up 14 - 0 in the first quarter.  Not bad for a guy with only year of college football on his resume after four playing college hoops.

There were a few moments of concern as the Rams engineered a fourth quarter drive, but the defense made the crucial stops.  When Gurley broke free for a long run, the defense didn't hang their heads but chased him down before he could reach the end zone.  A couple plays later, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix made the clinching interception after a pass tipped by linebacker Joe Thomas fell into his hands.

Get to the other guy's quarterback is a sound formula for victory.  Green Bay made Foles move faster than he wanted 12 times, sacked him three times, and picked off four passes.  Foles will be seeing Green and Gold in his dreams/nightmares for a couple of days.

It was, as Packer's announcer Wayne Larrivee likes to say, the "dagger" in a 24 - 10 final score.  So what if it wasn't an offensive masterpiece?  St. Louis has an excellent and tenacious defense.  On this day, the Rams offense wasn't as good.

Green Bay gets to leave their suitcases in the closet a couple more weeks.  They host San Diego next Sunday in the lat afternoon game and their bye weeks follows.

Five and oh is good; six and oh will be excellent!

Go Pack!
