Ready for the Holidays?

Last week I was in Menards to get a new toolbox.

Not far from the door was a large display of trees and lights.

On to the next store, Walmart.  The stockers were busy stacking display crates in the aisle.  They were covered with orange and yellow leaves, pies, and turkeys.

I suspect in the backroom over in a corner were piles of Valentines and Easter eggs.

In the old days, way back in the last century, we waited for everything.  We waited for supper.  We waited (sometimes fearfully) until Daddy got home.  We waited all year for our birthday and for Christmas.

Microwaving our world doesn't help.  We will be so tired of Christmas by December 1 we will be eager for red hearts and lace on store windows.

Just over two weeks from now is Halloween.  Since all the candy was on sale in August - I'm already past it.  No one got it when I dressed like a zombie hunter three weeks ago, but maybe I shouldn't have tried the costume for a casual Friday.

The nation's attention is riveted on the presidential race more now than is likely a year from now - when we will still be several weeks away from voting.

Let's slow down, could we try and take it one month at a time?
