Fresh Food!

One of the treats of summer is the farmer's market - the freshest foods - just picked, cleaned, and waiting to be taken home for dinner.

These tomatoes were absolutely juicily delicious on the burgers they nearly out-flavored.

It's interesting to see the various "fresh from the farm" offerings for sale.  Fresh eggs.  Fresh meat.  Hand-made soaps

Stacks of radishes, bushels of lettuce, and bouquets of cabbage cover the tables and spill onto the crates.

Honey direct from the hive and wool if you might be inclined to turn it into a sweater.

The nicest part of the farm market is talking with the people who bring the food to us and from our arms to our tables.

From the man with turkey eggs, chicken eggs, and even goose eggs - it was nice to hear why some eggs might be better than others and the freshness of the eggs on the table.

The farm markets continue year-round here, but they'll soon move inside.  For customers, the farm market is an opportunity to do just that - to bring the farm inside our home.

These photos were taken at the Farmer's Market on the Edgewood College/High School campus on Monroe Street in Madison held on Sundays.  You might have time to make it!
