Closing

Another check mark on the Probate/Estate settlement journey was made with the sale of mom's home in Janesville.

A little more than two years ago, she moved back to Wisconsin from Carmel, Indiana and found a charming condo on the city's east side.

It suited her needs with space for visiting family and everything accessible on one level.

There was a great view out back overlooking part of Janesville's Green Belt.  It was quiet.

It was listed September 10 and we closed on the sale to new owners yesterday.  We're glad it sold quickly.  That means it will have new owners and not sit empty through a winter when the likely prospects for places like hers could well have flown south for the winter.

So, it's good news.

Last weekend was kind of the final trip to mom's place as we retrieved the last of her belongings to add to our home.  Yesterday's quick visit was to leave the keys ready for the arrival of the new owners.

I'm sure they'll enjoy living there as much as mom did.  Her neighbors are friendly, respectful, and helpful.

Many times they offered to assist without being asked.  And my sister and I learned after mom's passing more about how those neighbors kept an eye on her without her feeling like she needed their attention.

Just a word of thanks to them - Rich, Karen, Dave, Marcia, Dick, Al, and the rest of the cul - de - sac who were an important part of mom's world.

The estate's not closed yet.  There are a couple more empty boxes yet to check.  But thankfully, none of the remaining boxes are waiting to be filled with stuff.
