Anytime...

It's right there in the title. "Anytime Fitness."

And they do mean, any time.

With membership comes a key fob which will unlock the door day or night.

It's been two weeks since I started my first ever gym membership and so far, so good.

Tomorrow I'm taking a complimentary fitness evaluation which I believe comes with a tutorial on the operation of some of the "machines" which more closely resemble tools used at the post office to bend, fold, and mutilate.

I've been working out virtually every day since 2007 when we moved into an apartment complex in Indianapolis with a fitness center on the grounds.  There were three treadmills, a bike, and a weight machine.

Mostly I used the treadmill for 30 minute walks at four miles an hour on a slight incline.  Other people came in, there was one person who ran for miles and miles on the treadmill.  Upwards of 32 laps - I recall thinking there was no way I'd ever go so far.

Just making it to 16 laps seemed like an accomplishment.  I exercised after work - which meant any late meetings or any number of other conflicts kept me from getting there.

During the summer, I enjoyed starting before work and soon I was converted to morning workouts.  I don't miss many at all and the fitness room wasn't crowded..

Here in Madison, we had an even nicer fitness center "included" in our rent.  I felt like I was getting my money's worth from their fitness room.

Anytime isn't included with our new home, but it's a short drive with all kinds of work-out equipment.

The Precor machines have built-in televisions, you just need to have your own earbuds to hear what's on the screen.

Other than my early Sunday morning visits, there are folks around Anytime.

We don't talk.  Heck, we really don't acknowledge each other's presence.  There is a current scavenger hunt sponsored by the gym, item #3 is introducing yourself to someone and taking a selfie with them by the blank wall.

As far as I can tell, no one has won the contest.  But, it's only my second week, I'm sure after a few months I might even say hello to someone.  Anytime.
