Packers Memo: Complete Victory

Monday Night's tussle with Kansas City turned into a game not as close as the 38 - 28 final might indicate.

Green Bay was better on offense.  They were better on defense.  And with the exception of a long kick return by the Chiefs, better on special teams.

Aaron Rodgers!

Not even the best pundits can keep coming up with new adjectives to describe his stellar performance.  Five touchdown passes for the night and mastery over the line of scrimmage which found the KC defense caught offside or with too many men on the field because Rodgers called for the snap with a guy jogging off field.

If you are a fan of the Pack - I hope you can appreciate the level of play we're witnessing.  At some point Aaron will retire, and unless Ted Thompson & company find the third "all - universe" quarterback to take the spot under center at some point, we will fondly remember the great run of Favre and Rodgers.

Mike Daniels and Clay Matthews led the defensive attack by catching the Chief's quarterback, Alex Smith behind the line of scrimmage for nearly half of the seven sacks for the night.  The performance highlighted a more than solid defensive effort.

Just in case you only saw the score, most of the points came late when Kansas City was scrambling to find the end zone.  The Pack wasn't seriously threatened and when they denied a two - point conversion in the fourth quarter, it sealed the deal.

Watching the game from my couch, I was impressed with the young receivers who caught passes once expected to land in the hands of Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams.  (Nelson is out for the year after a preseason injury.  Adams hurt his ankle last week and re-injured it Monday night just three plays into the game.)  The talent rises and the high quality of #12 makes everyone better.

Before the hype bus leaves the depot it is worth noting the season is still in the early stages.

Next week is game four in San Francisco.

Through the years, the 49ers have frequently out-played the good guys, but averages mean little now. It's one game near Aaron's home-town against the team that could have drafted him number 1 and chose another.

The other, by the way, was the losing QB Monday night.

There is room on the Packer bandwagon... some of us who've been here all along will be glad to help you find a place to sit.
