Back to the Balcony Garden

The garden seems to have so much going for it this year - regular rain and more attention from the folks on the other side of the glass.

Maybe benign neglect isn't such a bad approach to gardening after all?  The Pepper plants are growing tall and look pretty good.  The tomato plants have grown near five feet tall but seem to be thirsty all the time.  The cherry tomatoes look good from a distance but look on the bottom like they were sitting in the mud instead of hanging from the vine.

Just a few months back, I told you about the plans for year two of balcony gardening.

It called for more flowers, an herb garden, and vegetables (plus tomatoes).  We think the tomatoes maybe were overwatered.  Or under-watered - we really don't know.  In any case, there are not many edible cherry tomatoes to enjoy so far.

Luckily, we aren't counting on a couple of planters to provide a harvest.  It's mainly for the fun of watching them grow.  Any produce is a bonus!

Yields of a dozen or so tomatoes; a pepper or two; and some herbs to top various dishes would be enough for us.

If not, it's good to be in Madison, where we seem to have Farmer's Markets in almost every neighborhood.

I hope your garden is growing well - with silver bells and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row.

Which, if that is the case, please let me know.  And send pictures!

Here's to good growing!
